Trusted Defense Counsel for Healthcare Providers and Institutions Since the 1960s
Morris Duffy Alonso Faley & Pitcoff has a long and distinguished history defending healthcare professionals and institutions in complex medical malpractice litigation. Since the early 1960s, our attorneys have represented physicians, surgeons, nurses, dentists, podiatrists, and hospitals across New York in both high-exposure trial matters and disciplinary proceedings. From 1960 to 1970, we served as counsel to virtually every hospital within the Association of Hospitals of Greater New York, including Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Beekman Downtown Hospital, Long Island College Hospital, and Booth Memorial and Flushing Hospital. Our decades of experience and deep institutional knowledge continue to inform our effective defense strategies in today's rapidly evolving medical-legal landscape.
We provide defense counsel for physicians and surgeons across all specialties, nurses, dentists, and podiatrists, hospitals, surgical centers, and long-term care facilities, academic medical institutions and teaching hospitals, medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers in related liability cases, and licensed professionals in disciplinary and Professional Misconduct Hearings.
MDAFP proudly represents the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company (MLMIC), the largest professional liability carrier in the country, as well as the New York State Liquidation Bureau, Academic Health Professionals Insurance, and the Medical Malpractice Insurance Pool. We also provide excess and personal counsel services to physicians and hospital staff in complex or high-exposure cases. In addition to litigation defense, our team plays an active role in risk management consulting, advising clients on medical recordkeeping practices, early identification of potential claims, incident response and claims prevention, and compliance with institutional protocols and documentation standards. Several of our attorneys have contributed to educational video presentations on risk management, and one member of our team is a licensed registered nurse, enhancing our clinical understanding and trial preparation.
We have litigated and resolved cases involving surgical and diagnostic errors, medication and prescription mistakes, failure to diagnose, birth injuries, dental and podiatric malpractice, informed consent issues, and claims involving complex comorbidities and causation challenges. Whether serving as trial counsel, appellate counsel, or risk advisors, MDAFP brings unmatched experience and commitment to defending healthcare professionals.
